The Mason Creative Learning Workshop serves individuals with moderate to profound developmental disabilities and medical fragility. Our workshop is completely accessible and built to suit our participants whom are all non-ambulatory. Our space is large, open, uplifting, and colorful. Our specialty at Mason is sensory rooms and creative spaces. We currently have 4 themed sensory rooms: The “Under the Sea” room, which is a dim, quiet space featuring two 6 foot fish tanks, aquatic videos and music, fabric draped ceilings, murals, and positioning equipment.

The “Sports of all Sorts” Room, geared toward our sport fanatics, complete with astro turf flooring, sport arena murals, basketball hoop, bowling set, and the sports channel always present on the flat screen television. The third sensory room is the “Old Fashioned Movie Theater” complete with a movie projector, more suited for our individuals who are visually impaired, red velvet curtains, a movie marquee sign, and nostalgic black and white movie prints. The fourth sensory room is the “Solar System Room” which is the complete sensory experience: darkened walls and the absence of lights makes a great stage for the galaxy light projection on the ceiling, black lights throughout the room, fiber optic sprayed lights, and glowing planets and sensory objects. These are great serene spaces that allow participants to be taken away to another world or environment.

Mason Creative Learning Workshop provides a 6 hour program day which can include but is not limited to: continuous active treatment, alternate positioning on a variety of equipment, personal care, socialization, Sensory Room rotations, group activities, sensory stimulation programs, adaptive switch activated goals, outings into the community, and vocational work which involves shredding, sorting, and can crushing
